Kristen Smith

Why I Love My Job | My personal goal as an educator is to make each and every day fun, engaging, and meaningful to the young learners in my classroom. I love the quote by Maria Montessori that states that, "play is the work of the child." She also stated that, "a child is both a promise and hope for all of mankind." I believe in letting students explore what we are learning and desire to instill a love of learning in all of my students.

Education | I grew up in Connecticut and obtained my Bachelor’s Degree from Elmira College in Elementary Education with a minor in Anthropology. I graduated summa cum lade and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. My teaching adventures have lead me to teach in the Boston area, Austin, Texas, and the Dominican Republic. I have written articles that have been published by Scholastic and served as a teacher advisor for them for two years. I am thrilled to be starting my 5th year at BCA!

Personal Life | In my spare time I enjoy writing on my education blog for teachers, crafting, kayaking, creating educational materials for teachers, and taking long walks with my dog Koda.

A Note from Kristen | My name is Miss Smith. I am so excited to welcome you to the start of a new school year. This year will be my twelfth year teaching. I have previously taught pre K, kindergarten, first grade, third grade and fourth grade. I absolutely love to teach and am looking forward to getting to know each one of you and your children.
